Even when the idea of a smart home system was not even in my head, I was already thinking that it would be better to replace the traditional central heating thermostat with a remote-controlled device.
I couldn't choose a wall-mounted controller because I didn't want to cut into the wall for the wires.
I was definitely looking for a type that I could reach anywhere, anytime and that could be controlled.
About the thermostat, installation, smart control
I chose the BEOK BOT306RF WIFI.
This is a Chinese product, and its name implies that the controller communicates with the central unit via radio waves (RF) and can be accessed remotely via WIFI.
The setup was not easy at first, as two mobile applications were required.
I was able to find the device using the RF-SN(BEOK) app, and add and use it using the BEOK Home app.
After successfully installing it, I was happy to use it, but my phone kept getting bloated with many manufacturer apps, which made it increasingly difficult to see and control the devices. After a long search, I found the solution. With the Home Assistant smart home system, devices from many different brands can be used in one system, such as heating control, with the help of various integrations.
How does it work?
It can now be treated in three ways:
- Physically on the controller.
- With the factory mobile app.
- Home Assistant with smart home system.

Why is it good that it can be controlled with a smart home system?
- Everything is under a transparent system.
- Home Assistant can be used on any platform, including the thermostat.
- It can be automated in several ways.
- It can also be used with more complex functions, depending on different conditions.
For example, if you leave your home or are heading home, it adjusts the heating accordingly.
