- A world of its own.<\/strong> The thermostat lives in its own app. The window sensor, the presence sensor and the heat pump know nothing about it, and the thermostat knows nothing about them.<\/li>\n\n\n
- Cloud dependency.<\/strong> The manufacturer\u2019s app handles remote access through the manufacturer\u2019s cloud. If the cloud or the internet connection falters, so does the control.<\/li>\n\n\n
- Menu settings take button pressing.<\/strong> Hysteresis, the floor sensor mode or anti-freeze protection are set on the thermostat itself, in its menu \u2013 in a house with several rooms, that is a separate round in every room.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
How does it work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>The thermostat\u2019s Wi-Fi module talks directly to the Yabune Home hub over the local network. The Computherm E app is needed only for the initial Wi-Fi setup.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n The thermostat has a Wi-Fi module. The integration reaches it through this module, over the home\u2019s local network: every minute<\/strong> it polls the status, and it passes commands on immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Control stays in the house.<\/strong> If the internet connection drops, the thermostat keeps controlling the heating as before, and the automations keep running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What can the hub see and set?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

- Mode:<\/strong> off, heat or cool \u2013 and whether the thermostat is currently heating, cooling or idle.<\/li>\n\n\n
- Temperature:<\/strong> measured value and setpoint. The thermostat stores the setpoint in half-degree steps.<\/li>\n\n\n
- Fan coil fan<\/strong> (E300FC): low, medium, high or auto.<\/li>\n\n\n
- Panel lock:<\/strong> the thermostat\u2019s buttons can be locked, for example in a child\u2019s room or a shared space.<\/li>\n\n\n
- Limits and calibration:<\/strong> the lowest and highest settable temperature, and an offset for the measured value.<\/li>\n\n\n
- Menu parameters:<\/strong> hysteresis, sensor mode (internal sensor, external floor sensor, or internal control with a floor temperature limit), anti-freeze protection, power-on memory.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n

<\/a>The hub finds the thermostats on the network by itself; what is left for us is assigning them and building the automations.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n - \n
- We connect the thermostat to Wi-Fi with the Computherm E app.<\/li>\n\n\n
- The thermostat and the hub go on the same local network. A fixed IP address is recommended but not required.<\/li>\n\n\n
- The hub finds the thermostats by itself and offers them as new devices.<\/li>\n\n\n
- We mark the fan coil thermostats and assign the thermostats to rooms.<\/li>\n\n\n
- We build the automations and the user interface.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
The hub discovers the thermostats with broadcast messages, but these messages do not pass between network segments (VLANs). On a segmented network, the thermostats therefore go into the same segment as the hub \u2013 we fix this in the network plan in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What if something goes wrong?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Four situations in which the system stays in order without human intervention.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n - \n
- The thermostat gets a new IP address<\/strong>, for example after a router replacement: the integration finds it again on the network and follows the change.<\/li>\n\n\n
- The network comes up slowly after a power cut:<\/strong> the hub does not give up. It keeps looking for the thermostat, retrying less and less often, until it becomes available.<\/li>\n\n\n
- The thermostat\u2019s clock drifts:<\/strong> once a day, after 3 a.m., the hub sets it, so the weekly program switches at the right time.<\/li>\n\n\n
- The settings have not been read yet:<\/strong> until the hub has read the thermostat\u2019s settings at least once, it writes nothing to it. This way, unknown values cannot overwrite the real settings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
You can tell a good integration by the fact that you do not have to touch it, even when something goes wrong.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
What is it good for in practice?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

- When a window opens, heating in the room stops; when it closes, heating resumes.<\/li>\n\n\n
- When you leave, one button puts the whole house into economy mode.<\/li>\n\n\n
- The heat pump\u2019s flow temperature and the fan coils can be coordinated.<\/li>\n\n\n
- On fan coils, raising the hysteresis gets rid of short, annoying fan bursts.<\/li>\n\n\n
- The panel lock can be switched on and off remotely.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
All the resident sees of this is the same thermostat on the wall, and heating and cooling on their phone, in the Yabune Home interface, next to the rest of the house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- The network comes up slowly after a power cut:<\/strong> the hub does not give up. It keeps looking for the thermostat, retrying less and less often, until it becomes available.<\/li>\n\n\n
- The thermostat gets a new IP address<\/strong>, for example after a router replacement: the integration finds it again on the network and follows the change.<\/li>\n\n\n
- Temperature:<\/strong> measured value and setpoint. The thermostat stores the setpoint in half-degree steps.<\/li>\n\n\n
- Cloud dependency.<\/strong> The manufacturer\u2019s app handles remote access through the manufacturer\u2019s cloud. If the cloud or the internet connection falters, so does the control.<\/li>\n\n\n
